Call for Conference papers. Social Circus: Enhancing Equal Rights and Social Inclusion

About the Palestinian Circus School:

The Palestinian Circus School (PCS) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, which was established in 2006 and is registered with the Palestinian Authority since February 2007. By teaching, creating, performing and programming circus arts, the Palestinian Circus School strengthens the creative, social and physical potential of Palestinians, seeking to engage and empower them to become constructive actors in society and raises local and international awareness about the Palestinian potential and its different challenges.  


About the Conference:

The Palestinian Circus School in cooperation with Medical Aid for Palestinians are organizing a one-day conference under the title “Social Circus: Enhancing Equal Rights and Social Inclusion”. The conference will highlight the achievements of the Palestinian Circus School in using social circus concept and methodology with different target groups, including children with intellectual disabilities. During the Conference the Palestinian Circus School will disseminate it is social circus manual and child protection policy. In addition, the conference will have two panel discussion about social circus. Therefore, we launch this call for experts and researchers in the field of social circus to submit their proposal for papers to be presented during the conference.

A committee from local experts in Palestine will evaluate the proposals and make the selection based on the following criteria:

  • The paper should relate to the topic of using social circus in working with children and youth, including children and youth with disabilities. The papers should be justified with research-based evidences.
  • The proposal of the papers should be sent in PDF format and should not exceed three pages with the following suggested structure:




Findings and recommendations.

  • The paper should include findings and recommendations related to the topic.
  • The paper can be presented in 15 minutes.
  • Relevance of the paper to the Palestinian context.


  • The proposal should be sent to , by the 25th of October 2019.
  • The Palestinian Circus school will reply to your proposals by the 4th of November 2019.
  • For international proposals: the committee will select only 4 papers. The Palestinian Circus school will cover the travel and lodging cost for one presenter per paper.
